Restaurant Retrospective: Risottoria Melotti NYC

Situated on East 5th street between first and second avenue lies a godsend for anyone afflicted with siliac disease, a restaurant whose menu substitutes the usual gluten based recipes with rice. This Risottoria specializes in, you guessed it, risotto, and offers a smorgasbord of options that all diners, including those with the affliction mentioned above, can enjoy. Our family favorites were the Risotto amatriciana, the  Al Ragu di Cinghiale, and the Limone E Gamberi. The latter concoction consisted of lemon and finely cooked shrimp which instantly won my father’s heart. As somebody who enjoys making risotto on his own (which is very good by the way), he is no doubt excited by the new combinations introduced to us that night, and we’re excited to see how our dinner here influences our own culinary endeavors for the future.
