Cooking in the company of others has it’s pros and cons. For an introvert like myself, a very noticeable con is the constant need to compare oneself to others in terms of performance. Am I slicing the onion as thinly as my friend over there? Should I? The pros are a bit more apparent thankfully. Pleasant company, a sense of companionship even if everyone has a culinary endeavor for themselves, and the ability to share the fruit of labors together afterwards. Sitting around a set table and complementing each other was a luxury I couldn’t partake in during my first rodeo with CSCA due to Covid concerns. As for my dish of choice, I prepared Pisto Manchego, a vegetable stew apparently from the region of La Mancha. It’s basically a Spanish take on Ratatouille served atop toasted bread similar to Crostini or Bruschetta, although in this case, I simply served the stew without it. Don’t worry, the bread was still put to good use.
